WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story

Also include images, sounds or video from your project.

# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).

Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another senior or with a group.

I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!

Working with Newspaper

Today I spent most of time working on my new big project. It is the piece I posted last Friday which was about the death of my dog Wendy. I am calling it 'The Departure" because it literally depicts my dog departing from earth to heaven and the door at the end is supposed to represent the afterlife. So far I am very inspired by this piece. It is very powerful to me both metaphorically and visually. Today I worked on the background, which is the door and the waves of life/happiness it releases. It is in acrylic and very colorful. I like the waves I did because it gives the piece an element of abstraction and makes it more conceptual. Then I worked on the middle ground which is in newspaper. I spent most of the day glueing on the newspaper to the dry wall which was time consuming but necessary. I played with perspective by cutting smaller strips in the top of the area and then as I moved down the strips would slowly get larger. I will probably add in shading with acrylic as well so the perspective can be more apparent. Tomorrow I will work on the people in the foreground, which will be in charcoal and cool colors to represent misery and depression. In the afternoon I will be working on my landscape piece with my sponsor.
