WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story

Also include images, sounds or video from your project.

# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).

Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another senior or with a group.

I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!

First Post

For our senior project, Josh Bass and I are working with Lem Adams, the athletic trainer and kinesiologist at Beechmont country club as well as Linda Chapman, a registered and licensed dietician. The ultimate goal of our project is not only to learn how to live a healthy lifestyle through proper diet and exercise but also to learn the aspects of having a job in the field of athletic training and health. At the end of our project we plan to put all of these lessons together and create a diet plan and a 3 week workout plan for student athletes at Hawken.

Our days consist of performing hours of varied exercises and helping with tasks around the fitness center. During the next several weeks we will be getting in shape, helping with maintenance, and assisting members of Beechmont with their workouts.

Lem is not only teaching us a variety of different exercises designed to target certain parts of the body, but is also teaching us how to perform these exercises with correct form and posture. It is quite surprising how much more effective a workout can be with the use of proper techniques. Something as simple as the width of your grip or the placement of your fingers can completely alter an exercise and increase your productivity dramatically.

I am looking forward to our project because it will give me skills that I will be able to use long after I graduate from Hawken. I see it as an opportunity to change my body and improve my lifestyle. My starting weight is 142 pounds and I have set a goal of reaching 155 - 160 pounds by the end of project.

Pictures coming soon. Shout out to swole-nation.
