Yesterday and today I was working on my landscape piece with Bess Richard who was helping me along the way. I learned a lot of the different steps of working on a landscape piece. Firstly, you always paint the shadows in first with just one color. As you can see I have done that and I used Ultramarine Blue as the color of my shadows, which my sponsor said that is a good color to use. Next you start painting the general colors of the background, which in this case are the sky and the two houses. I learned that to create shape and perspectives for the houses you start with a basic color and change it slightly for different parts of the house that have that color. Also when painting the sky start from the top of the sky being darker and slowly getting lighter as you go down to convey a sense of perspective and distance from the houses. Now I have to work on the middle ground of the piece which are the street and the grass. I like it so far.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story
Also include images, sounds or video from your project.
# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).
Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another senior or with a group.
I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!
