WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story

Also include images, sounds or video from your project.

# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).

Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another senior or with a group.

I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!

Day One

I can say I have done few things that are truly this tiring. I consider myself in good shape, but working out for nearly 6 hours is very intense. Granted a lot of that time is spent stretching, performing yoga poses and taking plenty of water breaks, but none the less I could have used a few extra hours asleep to let my muscles recover this morning. Before I describe any of the workouts I wanted to also note Ben and I met with a nutritionist who laid out a diet for us and we are also learning about the in's and out's of the gym. From maintenance to keeping it clean we have helped keep the gym in top shape. Although this kind of work sucks and leaves you smelling like clorox, its humbling work and necessary.

Our mentor Lem, is a physical trainer and kinesiologist. He is teaching us to perform perfect technique. Our mornings usually start out with a half our of cardio followed by hours of exercises and observing Lem as he works with other clients. In my past I had always jumped on a machine and done the exercise. I, like most people, did not realize adjusting the machine to your height, weight and needs could make such a big difference.

I'm really enjoying working out all day and eating right. It is little things like getting chicken grille instead of fried, fruit instead of fries, water instead of soda, unsweetened ice tea that really make the difference. I'm convinced a lot of it has to do with genetics but thats only half the battle, the other half you can control. Ill keep you posted on our progress and include some pictures and exercises for anyone interested. My starting weight is 163.5, looking to get to 175 by June 1st.

Believe in yourself and anything is possible. Swole-nation signing out.
