Here is a recent shot of my self portrait that I have been working on.
Today I did alot of work on my self portrait and it is almost done. All need now is for my sponsor to look at it and see if she thinks its done. The is one of the hardest parts of painting a portrait is figuring out when it is done. It needs to be the best it can possibly be but at the same time I cant rework every single detail because then it looks wrong. This portrait is a battle for me, I cant tell if it is done or not and I dont want to overwork it because that might ruin the whole portrait. Thats when its good to have a fresh eye and another opinion, which is why my sponsor is so important. So far my sponsor, Bess Richard, has taught me a lot of little aspects that make a huge difference in painting. For example, when thinking of the composition of a painting a figure, it is never a good idea to put the figure right in the middle. Its good to have it slightly to one side because that is more interesting. I have alot more to learn from her, especially when doing landscapes.
